Flag Folding Ceremony
A US flag drapes the casket of the deceased Veteran to honor the memory of their service to their country. Upon family’s request, every eligible Veteran shall receive a Military Funeral Honor Ceremony; this includes playing Taps and presenting the US burial flag to the family/next-of-kin. The flag is placed on a closed casket, with the union blue field at the head and over the left shoulder of the deceased. After Taps is played, the flag is carefully folded into a symbolic tri-cornered shape; emblematic of the tri-cornered hat worn by Patriots of the American Revolution. There should be 13 folds representing the 13 colonies. When folded, only the blue field with the stars should be seen. It is then presented to the family member or next-of-kin as a keepsake.
Receiving the flag of a loved one is presented in memory and honor -it is the final tribute of their service. Creating a case to display the flag can be a very personal and emotional decision, and Crafted Cases can help to create a case that will honor and preserve the legacy of the Veteran for generations to come.
